Join us at the Appleton Flight Center for a day of competition, family fun, and the opportunity to thank our American heroes.

Pulling for Honor is a plane pull competition fundraiser for Old Glory Honor Flight. Each team comprises of 20 people, and the team that pulls the plane 12ft the fastest wins! Teams are required to raise a minimum of $1,500 in order to take part in the competition ($75 per person).

If competing isn’t for you, join us to cheer on the teams and support our local vets! The event is free and open to the public.

Pulling for Honor FAQs

To registar or start your own team so you can start fundraising follow the following steps!

  1. Visit givebutter.com/pull4honor
  2. Under the Team Leaderboard section click on "Join a Team".
  3. Fill in the boxes and select "Sign Up".
  4. Select "Join an Existing Team" or "Create your Own Team" and fulfill the required information.
  5. Click "Join this Fundraiser"!

Yes. If there is a change to the schedule, we will post the information on the homepage of the Pulling for Honor website. Gates open Saturday at 10 a.m., with event festivities beginning at 11 a.m.; gates close at 2 p.m.

Please note: No backpacks, coolers, firearms, weapons or pets (besides service animals) will be allowed.

The Pulling for Honor event is a fun team competition to see who can pull an Airbus A300 the fastest. Teams are made up of 20 members, who line up adjacent to a rope attached to the aircraft. The starter signals when to begin pulling and starts the stopwatch. After the team pulls the aircraft 12 feet, the stopwatch stops and the elapsed time is recorded as the team score. Each team is then weighed (as a group) and assembles to have their team photo taken.

The Plane Pull is a team competition, so gather 20 of your coworkers, friends or family members (teams can be up to 20 people) and start lifting those weights! The Pulling for Honor event is open to corporate groups, service organizations, churches and school groups – anyone who can organize a group and get people motivated to try something new and fun!

Kids can participate too! We leave it up to the parent/guardian to decide if they feel it is an age appropriate activity. We recommend kids who are in older middle school/high school age range to participate. We have a smaller aircraft for younger children to pull.

Teams must contribute a minimum of $1,500, or $75 per team member (based on a 20 person team). Many corporate groups are sponsored by their companies, and/or team members raise pledges to cover the team fee. Teams can raise money online or organize offline fundraisers like carwashes, bake sales, etc.! Fundraising is easy using our online fundraising tool!

  • Teams receive a small gift and have a team photo taken at the event.

For your team to be eligible to pull, you must raise at least $1,500. If your team does not reach $1,500, you will not be permitted to pull. The donations you received will not be refunded and will go to support the mission of Old Glory Honor Flight.

The Pulling for Honor Event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept 16th, 2023, at Appleton Flight Center on the south airfield of Appleton International Airport. Gates officially open at 10 a.m. and close at 2 p.m. The competition and surrounding event takes place on the tarmac, with ample free parking on the airport grounds. Pulls occur between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The event is rain or shine.

Closer to the event date, we will reach out to the team captains via email to inform them of their randomly chosen pull time.  The day of the event, text messages will be sent to team captains to notify which teams are up next and need to be in the staging area.

Bring your family, friends and coworkers to see you pull, but please leave your pets at home. Animals – unless they’re service dogs – are not allowed on the tarmac, and don’t appreciate the loud airplane noises anyway (the Pulling for Honor site is adjacent to an operating runway).

The Pulling for Honor event is open to the public with free admission, and there’s plenty for everyone to do at the event!

Ample free parking is available on the airport grounds. Look for the Pulling for Honor parking signs off County Road BB.
