What’s New at Walt Disney World?
Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is the perfect travel destination for people and families of all ages. There is something for everyone!
Walt Disney World is continually changing and updating. If you haven’t been to Disney in a few years it is time to pay another visit. There are many new and fun things happening at Walt Disney World. Keep reading to find out about these exciting new changes!
1. MagicBand
One of the most interesting changes that has happened recently at Disney is the MagicBand. A MagicBand is a colorful wristband that you wear. These bands allow you to travel lighter because they are hooked up to the things that you need the most. For example, you can use your MagicBand to enter the parks and unlock your Disney Resort room. You can even add your credit card information to the band so you can buy food and merchandise with it. Since the band is waterproof you don’t need to take it off, and risk losing it, at all throughout the duration of your trip.
2. New Parade
For many years Disney World had the same afternoon parade, but in Spring of 2014 they debuted a brand new and exciting parade, the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. This parade features the stories of Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, Pinocchio, Peter Pan and Tangled. The floats are amazing and filled with all of the details to tell your favorite stories perfectly. This parade is a must see!
3. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
The new ride at Magic Kingdom is the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster. It officially opened in May of 2014 in the Fantasyland area of Magic Kingdom. You ride in a mine car through the countryside and then into the diamond mine of the Seven Dwarfs. The ride features music that you will recognize from the movie; you’ll feel like you’re really there!
4. Frozen
Frozen was a huge hit movie from Disney released in November of 2013 and if you are a Frozen fan then now is the time to go to Disney. The Frozen characters are currently appearing in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade! Also, Queen Elsa will be turning Cinderella’s castle into an ice palace every night during this holiday season. Looking ahead to spring 2016, a major new attraction will be the Frozen ride. It’s under construction right now, in Epcot, on the site of the existing Maelstrom ride.
5. Disney Springs
The classic Downtown Disney is being re-imagined into Disney Springs—a fantastic dining, shopping and entertainment area. This transformation will double the size of Downtown Disney. Each section will be opened in stages and it is expected to be completely finished by 2016.
As you can see, things are always changing at Walt Disney World and there are plenty of new attractions to come see!
